About Kristi Conner

Welcome and thanks for taking the time to visit my counseling website!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Tacoma, Washington.  I find significant meaning and value in helping others through counseling.

I work from a place of compassion and non-judgement.   I believe that people can heal and change and this can be a challenging process. I bring a holistic approach to my work. I am client centered and begin where you are at working with the individual in the context of their experience, while also applying a range of therapeutic tools.

My areas of experience are in trauma and PTSD,  depression issues, as well as Anxiety Disorders-Generalized Anxiety, Panic Disorder, and other fears.

I also work with attachment issues (sometimes referred to as codependency or insecure attachment),  help with understanding and establishing needs and boundaries, learning how to improve self-esteem and building healthy relationships.

I received my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Fine Arts from Hastings College in 1997, in Nebraska. I worked in the business field, such as finance and human resources for several years. I then went to the Peace Corps, serving in Romania for two years. When I returned, I completed my Masters in Social Work at the University of Washington in Seattle, in 2007.

I have worked in the field for over ten years, I have worked with children, family, adults, and couples.  Currently, I do individual work with adults.  I have worked as a social worker for a state agency, as well as a medical social worker for a local hospital. I worked in community mental health for five years. I then worked for Kaiser Permanente as a staff psychotherapist for their Behavioral Health Services. I currently have a private practice in Tacoma.
